I recently put together and tested my own inline water filtration system for walking, using an Aquamira Frontier Pro filter unit.
A key objective was to design something that was quickly assembled and dismantled, easy to keep clean and didn’t require a lot of time standing around freezing cold water to use (unlike most pumps). The test was successful and I’m very pleased with the results. Take a look below:
Kit in the video:
- Osprey 2L Reservoir
- Platypus Big Zip 2L
- Camelbak Hydrolink Filter Adapter
- Aquamira Frontier Pro water filter
- Chlorine Tablets
I may make another of these as a spare to be carried by someone else if I’m walking in a large group. If so, I’ll put together a post on the steps required to modify the Aquamira filter to accept a quick snap valve on the outlet end.
